As soon as we arrived in the morning we were instructed to lead the Parade in the correct direction and ensure that no hazards conflicted with there pathway. All roads were blocked and police were on site to help make this process easier. My duty was to stand aside of the cars that were driving by and ensure no little kids ran in front or touch the cars as they were moving. Straight after that i was instructed to set up chairs for an audience to view the dance performances on stage. Following on from that Maree, Maren and i set up tables and chairs so that people could sit and have lunch with there family and friends. We then were told after we helped set up to go to an entry point and assist anyone that was unsure where a certain location of a stall was. We were given manuals to help us direct them in the correct location. Our main duty of the day was to help anyone out and assist them with store locations and to make sure that everyone was kept safe and no injuries had occurred.

4. List the tools and equipment you used during the day.
Post a photo of your work tools and equipment if appropriate.

- Fluro Vest
- Manual: SES instructions, Emergency Contacts, Locations of stalls & Bathrooms, Lost Child procedure.
- Our hands were the main tool of the day

5. List the Employability Skills you developed during work activities. Explain the context of the activity and the corresponding employability skill. (What did you do/achieve?)

- Communication skills: this was needed when we were setting up chairs and tables so that we could make correct numbers of rows and set up the same amount of chairs for each of the tables.
- Teamwork Skills: This was needed to lift the chairs of from the stacks. The chairs were in high stacks and were to difficult to reach if one person had to grab them from their themselves, so 2 other people had to assist and help out to make sure the stack of chairs didn't fall on top of anyone's heads and that the chairs were lifted off in a safe manner.

6. Describe any difficulties/ new issues that have challenged you in your day at work placement and what you learnt in those situations. What skills did you develop?

I think the only downside to the day was when we were lifting and setting up, i think gloves should have been given out to ensure that we were safe. The only major challenge of the day was to learn the manual in such a short amount of time so that we could identify what someone was looking for.

7. Describe what you enjoyed about work today.
What i enjoyed the most was the festival performance as the crowed of people walked through the streets.

8. Describe what you have to follow up for tomorrow at work.

Work Experience - Transport (SMASH)

Sydney Sports Centre

The event was about Teen Matters, discussing there sexuality and relationships of teenagers in the day-to-day life. Various speakers spoke to the teenagers and discussed their own stories and their own beliefs and tried to inspire everyone not to ever feel pressured into anything and not to listen to anyone but your own gut instinct. It also discussed the safety and responsibility of teen relationships between a guy and a girl at a young age. I was instructed to show schools to their seating and also show schools in and out of the venue in a safe manner. I learnt how to lead massive groups to and from a venue in a safe manner. I also helped those who needed help on finding the toilets. There was a problem that occurred on the day for me but i chose not to retaliate and to just let it go that the girl was speaking roodly towards me. My employability skills throughout the day were, the use of communication, team work between the girls and i in order of helping the schools around the venue. Overall the day was great and a good experience, i had fun working with the girls in our class and working as a team.

Work Placement

Write a brief post on what you expect to learn on your experience while on work placement.
As part of Entertainment we are to complete 35 hours of work placement. I expect to learn different aspects of what my industry provides. Whilst on work placement i will learn/ discover different skills and an understanding on how to carry out the duties allocated. I expect that work placement will provide duties similar to what we have been learning during class. e.g. Lighting, Visual and Audio. Throughout this experience i expect to gain and develop management skills and also the ability to carry out a job effectively.
